BeyondTraceability Talks - Session 1: Regulatory Compliance and Adherence to International Standards
The Asia-Pacific region stands at the heart of global agriculture, powering economies and delivering essential commodities like palm oil from Indonesia, cocoa from the Philippines, and coffee from Vietnam to markets worldwide. With over 15% of the world’s forested land, including Indonesia’s tropical rainforests, the region plays a critical role in biodiversity preservation, climate regulation, and carbon storage.
Agriculture is the primary income source for 75% of producers in Asia, serving as the bedrock of livelihoods and local economies. However, this reliance exposes the sector to economic and environmental vulnerabilities, highlighting the need for sustainable agricultural systems.
The APAC region faces a shifting regulatory landscape driven by frameworks like CSDDD, CSRD, EUDR, and FSMA, requiring enhanced transparency and sustainable sourcing. In Session 1, PISAgro and the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs will explore actionable policies and collaborative platforms to drive sustainability and empower producers in meeting global standards.
