KOLTIVA was recently mentioned in a report authored by Preferred by Nature and published by Tropical Forest Alliance with the title of Assessing Traceability, Monitoring, and Sustainability Initiatives in Key Soft Commodities: Mapping, Categorization and Recommendations Focusing on EUDR Compliance, highlighting as one of the providers to assist businesses to comply with the EUDR or European Union Deforestation Regulation.

Citing from the report, different global responses have emerged over the past decades to address illegal logging and deforestation. This includes multi-stakeholders’ declarations and commitments, the development of private certifications, international and bilateral agreements, as well as demand-side measures. Within the latter category, the EU is spearheading a movement by establishing a regulation requiring advanced due diligence systems from companies trading in forest risk commodities such as Palm Oil, Cocoa, Coffee, Rubber, Wood, Soy, and Cattle, and their derivatives like leather and furniture, and increased levels of visibility and information sharing across supply chains.

Among other requirements, the EUDR mandates the collection and sharing of information relating to the areas of production of commodities, their legal production, and the absence of deforestation. This exchange of information presents challenges and necessitates effective traceability systems as well as deforestation monitoring systems to be implemented.

Focusing on four EUDR scope soft commodities, this report highlights palm oil as one of the key commodities which primarily produced in Indonesia and Malaysia, and is mandated by the regulation to ensure its production positively impacts environmental sustainability and addresses deforestation.

In assisting palm oil businesses to comply with the EUDR, we offer solutions on mapping palm oil plantations and transaction traceability through KoltiTrace MIS (Management Information System) platform which leverages mobile applications for supply chain management.
