Leading the Way in Responsible Coconut Production: Our Commitment to the Sustainable Coconut Partnership (SCP)

In 2024, we proudly joined the Sustainable Coconut Partnership (SCP), marking a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing a sustainable and resilient coconut industry. This collaboration underscores our dedication to nurturing both the environment and the livelihoods of local communities.

The Sustainable Coconut Partnership (SCP) is a global, voluntary membership organization dedicated to fostering a responsible and resilient coconut sector. SCP brings together a diverse coalition of stakeholders, including industry leaders, civil society, academia, financial institutions, trade bodies, and governments. Through strategic partnerships and collaboration, SCP aims to enhance governance and empower the private sector to drive sustainability initiatives that directly benefit producers and producer associations (SCP: n.d.). Our membership reflects our shared commitment to these vital goals.

With the global coconut market expanding rapidly across diverse industries, Indonesia, which accounts for 27% of global output, stands at a critical juncture. The expansion of coconut plantations has led to significant environmental challenges, including deforestation, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem disruption (IUCN: 2022; Statista: 2023). Moreover, smallholder coconut producers in regions like North Sulawesi and Riau face economic hardships, earning less than US$200 per capita annually, and lack access to essential resources, making them reliant on middlemen. These challenges underscore the urgent need for sustainable solutions—an area where we are actively leading the charge (IntechOpen: n.d.).

In response to these pressing challenges, we are at the forefront of transforming the coconut industry by providing comprehensive support to businesses and their producers. Our initiatives ensure that coconut producers receive training, coaching, and certification in sustainable agriculture, enabling them to increase their income by producing higher-quality products and investing in sustainability.  Our approach aligns seamlessly with SCP’s mission to create a responsible and resilient coconut sector. Through our leadership, we are setting new standards for sustainability in the industry.

We invite you to join us in championing sustainable practices within the coconut industry. Connect with our experts today to explore how we can collaborate to drive meaningful environmental and social impacts, shaping a better future for all.
